this document provides steps for converting a dynamic role (ie group based ) into a static role that is just in the activate database you should only convert dynamic roles based on groups it’s not recommended to convert dynamic roles based on ldap queries or ou references if you want all members of the group to be in the static role you should run “sync cache from ad” first steps 1\) remove the members parameter from the role 2\) refresh the role parent the role should no longer have a cog icon on it 4\) right click on the role and click show members 4\) a dialog offering to convert dynamic membership to static membership will appear a click yes, then yes again to convert dynamic membership to permanent membership this will only convert members who have role member records role member records are created for dynamic role membership when the user’s cache is updated b click no to remove all dynamic membership note static membership rows will remain, even if they were not previously a dynamic member c click cancel to do nothing role member records will need to be removed manually via show members > remove user the user will be treated as a member of the role until the records are removed
