# Problem

When attempting to register password questions, the following error appears:

This is a shared user account, therefore you cannot set the password reset questions.

# Cause

The user account in **Active Directory** has the **“User cannot change password”** flag enabled. This flag designates the account as a shared account used by multiple users.

# Solution

Shared accounts are not permitted to register password reset questions. To resolve this issue:

1. Confirm whether the account should remain shared.&#x20;
2. If it should be a personal account, remove the **“User cannot change password”** flag in Active Directory.&#x20;
3. If it must stay shared, password question registration will remain disabled for security reasons.&#x20;
