activate includes a feature that allows an administrator to resume a job that has stalled or failed this functionality is particularly useful when a job fails due to temporary infrastructure issues or when re running the entire workflow is not practical by default, only activate administrators have permission to resume jobs example resuming a “create user” job a failed create user job can occur for a number of reasons — for example, an infrastructure dependency such as an exchange server being temporarily unavailable rather than restarting the entire workflow, the administrator can resume the job from a specific workflow step, skipping earlier steps if necessary this approach is often used when time or other constraints prevent a full job resubmission for testing or troubleshooting individual steps after resolving an underlying issue, to allow the job to continue to completion steps to resume a job locate the failed job in the activate web portal, open request history or search for the specific job number select resume job from the menu ribbon, choose resume job choose a workflow step select the step where the job should resume from you may skip earlier steps if they have already completed successfully review and submit review the job details, then click submit to create a new resume job monitor progress the resume job task will run and submit a new job that is a clone of the original job but with instructions to resume from the specified step the new resumed job will have a different job id from the original job but will reference the original job in the arguments
