Reset Activate Studio Profile
Activate Studio stores user-specific configuration and profile settings locally on the workstation. If these settings become corrupted, Activate Studio may fail to launch or behave unexpectedly. This document explains how to reset a user’s Activate Studio profile by removing the local configuration files.
When to reset an Activate Studio profile
Resetting the Activate Studio profile may help resolve issues such as:
- Activate Studio failing to start
- Unexpected errors during launch
- Incorrect or corrupted user-specific settings
This process only affects local configuration files and does not modify server-side Activate data.
Prerequisites
Before proceeding:
- Ensure Activate Studio is fully closed
- Confirm the affected user can sign in to Windows
Resetting the Activate Studio profile
- Close all open instances of Activate Studio.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the following location:
On Windows Server systems, this path may resemble:
- Delete the following files:
- Admin*.config
Alternatively, you can rename the entire Activate folder to preserve a backup of the existing configuration.
- Start Activate Studio.
Activate Studio will recreate the required configuration files automatically.
Expected outcome
After completing these steps:
- A fresh Activate Studio profile is created for the user
- Corrupted or invalid local settings are removed
- Activate Studio should start using default configuration values
If issues persist, further investigation may be required to rule out environmental or permission-related causes.
