### Problem

Some organisations need to permanently delegate approval responsibilities for specific users—such as executives or senior managers—who may not have time to process approvals.

This situation commonly occurs when:

- Direct reports submit requests to senior leaders.
- Approvals escalate because direct reports have not acted on the request.

### Solution

Activate supports **permanent approval delegation** through the **Auto Delegation** role.
 Any user added to this role will have their approvals automatically delegated to a specified target user.

### Configuration Steps

1. **Create the Auto Delegation Role**
   - Navigate to:
   - Create a new role named:
2. **Add the Default Delegate Parameter**
   - On the role, create a parameter named:
   - Configure this as a **User Reference** to the target delegate.
3. **Assign Users to the Auto Delegation Role**
   - Use the task:
   - **Important:** Do **not** add users to the role using **Activate Studio**, as scripts required to set up delegation will not run.

### User Experience

- Users with permanent delegation will see a **notification** on their Activate homepage indicating that their approvals are delegated.
- Requesters will see delegation details in the **workflow summary** for items involving a delegated approver.

Permanent delegation ensures critical requests are processed without delays caused by unavailable approvers.
