Each customer uses AD and Activate differently — for example, some may rely heavily on AD Contacts, while others may not use them at all. To hide AD Contacts or other object types from appearing in the home page search, follow these steps:

# Steps

1. Open Activate Studio 
2. Navigate to **Resources > Configuration > Search**.
3. Locate the **DefaultCategories** parameter and remove `"CONT"` from the comma-separated list.
   - If the parameter doesn’t exist, create it with a **type** of `string`.
   - The default value is `SERV,ARTL,GRPR,DLGS,TASK,FOLD,WSIT,WLST,WGRP,ROLE,USER,COMP,CONT,MBRS`
   - This includes all object types in the search.
4. Restart **IIS**.

For a consistent user experience, you may also want to edit HomePage1 under Resources > Configuration > Web and remove the SearchSelectItem for Contacts (or other excluded objects) from the search dropdown list.
