Password reset questions are used by Activate to verify a user’s identity during **self-service password reset and account unlock**. By correctly answering these questions, users can securely authenticate themselves without Service Desk involvement.

This configuration allows you to define which questions are presented during **registration** and which are required during a **reset**, as well as enforce basic answer quality requirements. Careful management of these questions is important, as changes can directly affect existing user registrations and their ability to reset passwords successfully.

The following steps explain how to review, update, and maintain password reset questions within Activate Studio.

# Configure Registration and Reset Options

1. Open **Activate Studio**.
2. Navigate to **Tasks > Passwords**.
3. Open the **PasswordResetQuestions** parameter.
4. Review or modify the following settings:
 - **toSet** – Defines which questions are required for user registration.
 - **toReset** – Defines which questions are required for password reset or account unlock.
 - **minAnswerSize** – Specifies the minimum number of characters allowed for an answer.

# Adding or Changing Questions

1. Duplicate the last \<question> entry.
2. Increment the **id** value.
3. Update the **question** text.
4. Save the file.

Do not modify the IDs of existing questions if users have already registered. Changing them will break existing password reset registrations.
