## Issue

During the installation of Activate, the install wizard reports that it cannot detect the server as domain-joined even when it is correctly joined to the domain.

## Solution

Activate utilises a number of factors to confirm the machine is domain joined, to confirm the machine is indeed joined correctly to the domain, run this PowerShell cmdlet:

[\[System.Net.NetworkInformation.IPGlobalProperties\]\::GetIPGlobalProperties()](#)

The result should provide the DomainName property.

Assuming a domain name is being reported by PowerShell, but Activate is still unable to detect a domain, confirm the primary DNS suffix is set to update when domain membership changes. This can be confirmed by going Start > Control Panel > System > Change Settings > More > Ticking "Change primary DNS suffix when domain membership changes."
