**Release date:** October 7, 2026

Activate 8.4.6 is a patch release with standalone Studio fixes, Markdown editor improvements, and non-production content management.

## Activate Studio

New standalone Studio installations now default to the Studio directory rather than the server-instance directory. Existing installations are not moved by this change.

Standalone Studio also avoids direct database initialisation when connecting through the SQL connection proxy. The version-mismatch warning now clearly explains when the installed Studio version needs to be updated to match the attached Activate instance.

## Web-Form Control Fixes

- **Approval groups in custom forms:** An `ApprovalGroup` declared directly in a form can now be constructed by the form renderer, avoiding the construction failure that previously prevented the form from loading.
- **Instance-browsing pages in custom forms:** A `BrowseInstancesPage` embedded without its normally supplied instance-list control now renders its static content instead of failing. Normal instance-browsing pages retain their existing behaviour.
- **TextTile headings:** Configured titles now appear above the tile text instead of being omitted.

## Markdown Editing and Comparison

Markdown editor sizing now applies the configured height to the editing area, with scrolling for longer content. Read-only content can grow with its contents.

Form authors can supply an earlier version through the CompareMarkdown property to display a read-only comparison against the current Markdown. Multiline comparisons preserve line breaks, and reviewers can switch between comparison, source, and rich-text views. Existing forms continue to use their current mode unless configured for comparison.

```xml
    <MarkdownEditor ID="diffExample" Label="What changed in this release note" Height="360px">
        <Markdown>
            New Text
        </Markdown>
        <CompareMarkdown>
            Old Text
        </CompareMarkdown>
    </MarkdownEditor>
```
