Activate 8.4.4 is a patch release containing a security improvement, bug fixes, and quality of life enhancements for Studio users.

Security: Improved Authentication Logging

Under certain circumstances, Activate Anywhere versions later than 8.2.1 could write sensitive data to application log files. This release strengthens authentication-related logging.

After updating, existing Anywhere log files should be rotated or purged according to your organisation's log retention policy.

Adding permissions to a cloud-only shared mailbox previously failed with an error. The system attempted to read Exchange attributes from the on-premises anchor object, but cloud-only mailboxes do not have these attributes populated. The permission operation now correctly handles cloud-only mailboxes without requiring on-premises Exchange attributes.

Customers managing remote-only or cloud-only shared mailboxes can now assign mailbox permissions without encountering errors.

When a requestor replied to an approval request via the email "Reply" button, the resulting message incorrectly displayed the service account name (for example, "Activate Admin Prod") instead of the responding user's actual name. The system now correctly identifies and displays the replying user's name in the message subject and body.

A new "Run as Job" option is available on the right-click context menu for Task objects in Activate Studio. This allows users to submit a Task as a Job directly from Studio, with options to use the default arguments, select an alternate arguments parameter, or modify arguments in a text editor before submission. Arguments are validated before the job is submitted. The existing "Submit Test Task" functionality remains available.

A new command-line tool validates .Activate package files offline without a database connection. It checks structural correctness including XML format, element hierarchy, parameter types, attribute values, and link path validity. This is developer and agent tooling that does not affect end-user functionality, but lays the foundation for automated package authoring workflows in future releases.

No new prerequisites. Apply using the standard update process. Customers using Activate Anywhere should prioritise this patch as per the security enhancement noted above.
